To our customers:
Beginning September 1, 2010, Sunrise Research Corp. will be required to collect sales tax on the sale of its information services to customers within New York State. Since most of our customers will be reselling this information, we ask that those customers submit to us a completed NYS ST-120 Resale Certificate at their earliest convenience. We expect that most customers will submit a blanket certificate while specifying when they order services that are taxable and are not being resold.
Sunrise will work with you to ensure that our practices reflect as smooth a transition of this process as is possible. We will be modifying our online order form to allow you to mark searches as ‘taxable’ or ‘for resale.’ Customers located within New York State will be charged sales tax on most tax searches of properties within zone 2 of the TIRSA manual unless we are directed otherwise.
